両先嶋家作致瓦葺候儀跡々より
御禁止被仰付置候處八重山嶋＊ニ者＊其
守達無之瓦葺家＊茂＊有之道光弐拾壱
丑年石原親雲上御使者之時并咸豊七
巳年御検使之時瓦葺家＊者＊かや＊ニ而＊葺替
被申渡候処急＊ニ＊手組向差支候訳を以
年限相立延之願申出被差免置候付＊而＊ハ
年限通可致葺替之処無其儀于今
瓦葺家＊茂＊有之由田舎限之顧＊茂＊無之
右式御趣法を犯華美ヶ間敷別＊而＊
如何之儀候間早々かや＊ニ而＊致葺替御検使

両先島の家を瓦葺にすることは、前々から王府が禁止していたが、八重山島ではそれを守らず、 瓦葺の家がある。
道光21年の丑年（1841年）に、石原親雲上が御使者として派遣された時及び咸豊7年の 巳年（1857年）の御検使派遣の時に、葺の家はかやに葺き替えるように申し渡されたのに、 急には準備ができないという理由で、期限をたてて延期してほしいという願い出があり、免れたままになっている。このことについては、期限通り葺き替えをするべきであるが、その気配もなく、いまだに瓦葺の家もあると聞いている。田舎は田舎らしく振る舞うべきであるといった考えもなく、御趣法に違反し、華美にするとはいったいどういうことだ。すぐにかやに葺き替えし、検使が派遣された際に結果を報告しなさい。これは、上からのご命令である。

The construction of tiled roofs was forbidden in Miyako and Yaeyama Islands, but there were tile-roofed houses without observing the rules.
When the government dispatched Ishihara Pechin as a messenger in 1841 and 1857, orders for the reversion to hay roofs were given. However, applications for extension of the deadline were submitted because it is difficult to prepare suddenly.
Although they must observe the rules and reroof, it seems that they do not want to do about this. We have heard that tiled-roofed houses still remain. They do not even recognize that the country people should act like country people, moreover they break the rules and live in luxury. What on earth? Notify them immediately to reroof, and submit a report when an envoy is dispatched to Yaeyama. This is a government order.
