[工工四 屋嘉比朝寄]

Music from the “Ryukyu Koten Kyoku Ongaku” (Old Book of Ryukyuan Music), compiled by Yakabi Chōshi (1716-1775). It contains 117 songs. He consulted Chinese music scores and devised the musical notation (kunkunshi) for the Sanshin, and gathered all the Ryukyuan music that had until then been passed down through word of mouth.The text is the original text. Next to the notation for the samisen’s melody, are written the lyrics in Katakana, so that the player can sing and accompany at the same time. It is also called “kakinagashi kunkunshi”. It was passed down from Makijina Anko to Iha Fuyu, and is now kept in the main library.
