Omoro Sōshi, composed of 22 volumes in total, is a collection of 1,554 ceremonial songs called Omoro which were gathered from the islands of Amami and Okinawa. The original text was compiled by the Shuri royal government and was supposedly completed between 1531 and 1623. It was recompiled in 1710, and two copies were made then. One copy, Shōke-bon was passed on to the Shō family, and the other one, Aniyake-bon was delivered to the Aniya family, who were the officials that gathered and preserved the Omoro songs. There is also a copy of Aniyake-bon called Nakayoshi-bon, which was owned by Nakayoshi Chōjo.
