解説

旧慣存続期の八重山における開発申請1件書類綴り。その主たる開発対象地域は石垣島名蔵村の通称・名蔵野であり，申請者の主体は他府県出身者および沖縄本島出身者が占めている。当時の県庁八重山島役所長は伊王野蔵介。申請者は申請書類に添付して開発区域の図面（概念図）を添えており，当時の文書形式を知ることができる。地元の意向と新時代の開発動向の調整・矛盾を考察するうえで貴重なもの。（高良倉吉）

Description

This is an application for cultivation in Yaeyama during the Period of preserving old customs. The main target area for cultivation is Ishigaki Island's Nagura Village, commonly known as Naguraya. The applicants comprised mostly of those from other prefectures or mainland Okinawa. At the time,the head of the Yaeyama Island Public Office was Iouno, Kurasuke. We are able to see the application standards at the time through the way the applicants attached plans of the proposed areas for cultivation.
