1件。8枚。27.7×20.0cm。楮紙。罫紙使用。本史料は、八重山島蔵元（くらもと）と沖縄開運会社（おきなわかいうんがいしゃ）間の契約文書である。明治23（1890）年11月締結の「条款」と、「追加」の条項、明治23年12月6日付の「追約定証」、明治26（1893）年4月7日の「追加スヘキ条款」によってなる。内容は、八重山島からの「貢物」（こうぶつ）および「公費品類」に関して船舶による輸送はすべて沖縄開運会社が取り仕切ること、運行回数や、乗客の手回り品についての数量規制などが記されている。また、非常時における対応や、八重山島の役人や学校生徒の運賃を減額する旨についても記載される。この契約は宮良間切（みやらまぎり）、大濱間切（おおはままぎり）、石垣間切（いしがきまぎり）の三人の頭（かしら）と沖縄開運会社社長代理によって結ばれていた。

Description

This is a contract between The Yaeyama Islands Kuramoto and Okinawa Kaiun Co. It consists of the articles executed in November 1890, and other supplementary articles added on 6 December 1890 and 7 April 1893. The contract states that the shipping of goods to the govenment on mainland Okinawa should be conducted entirely by Okinawa Kaiun Co. It also lists provisions for the number of trips and the amount of personal luggage allowed for passengers etc. Furthermore, it also has records of emergency procedures, and concessions for officials and students from Yaeyama. The contract was signed by the three Kashiras of Yaeyama, each from Miyara Magiri, Oohama Magiri and Ishigaki Magiri respectively, as well as the CEO of Okinawa Kaiun Co.
