頭役被仰付候以来日記 / Record of Kashira in Yaeyama
204丁。23.4×15.7cm。同治11（1872）年8月仕立て。記主は，松茂氏宮良親雲上当宗。記述は，同治11年8月25日から光緒13年（1887年，明治20）4月29日条までの15年間に及ぶ。八重山島で最高位の頭役（三人制）に任命された日から書き起こされた公務日記である。宮良間切の頭役となったことから宮良親雲上と称する）。首里城での任命儀礼や王府役人との関係，地元八重山での公務（例えば，村々・島々を巡察する「親廻り」など），王府から派遣された在番との関係，など多岐にわたる。頭役の具体的な公務内容が分かるだけでなく，清明祭の導入など家祭祀に関わる事項も散見される。また，「琉球処分」（1879年）前後の政治社会的動向に関わる事項も見られるなど，貴重な史料である。（豊見山和行）
The journal was logged by Matsumo Miyara Peechin Toso and covered 15 years of activities from 25 August 1872 to 29 April 1887.This is an official diary of the highest position in Yaeyama, namely the Kashira(three-person system). Miyara was titled as Peechin after he became the Kashira of Miyara Magiri. The diary records the various information in detail such as the appointment ceremony that took place at the Shuri castle, relationships with the government officials and the Zaibans dispatched from Shuri. The public duties at Yaeyama were the surveying of the villages and outer islands etc.This historical document allows us to, not only undertand the various duties of the Kashira but also provide information on rituals and events such as the introduction of Seimeisai and the situation and circumstances before and after the disposition of Ryukyu in 1879.
