1件。各1丁。35.4×45.6cm。楮紙。裸馬（赤馬1枚、黒馬2枚、茶褐色馬1枚、薄黒馬1枚）の図5枚と薩摩藩士の騎馬図4枚からなる。 赤馬の図に、弐枚」「松茂氏当宗」と明記されていることから、1872年、八重山島宮間切の頭に任職した宮良親雲上当宗による絵であることが分か る。騎馬図は、薩摩人が羽織袴に上下を着し、馬飾りを施した馬を疾駆させている様子が描かれている。裸馬図は八重山で描かれたものと推測されるが、なぜ薩 摩人の騎馬図が描かれたのか、その絵は那覇において描かれたものか（当宗は頭職の拝命時に那覇に赴いている）、あるいは八重山において描かれたものかは不明である。
There are 5 pictures of unsaddled horses ( 1 Red, 2 Blacks, 1 Brown and 1 pale black) and 4 pictures of Satsuma warriors at the lumberyard. It appears that the picture with the red horse was painted by Miyara Peechin Tousou, who was the Kashira(Head) of the Yaeyama Island Magiri (district) since 1872. The horse riding pictures portrayed the Satsuma warriors dressed in formal attire, driving the decorated horses fast. It is presumed that the pictures of the horses were painted in Yaeyama but is uncertain why the Satsuma warrior riding pictures were painted in the first place and whether they were painted in Naha or Yaeyama.
