解説

本来「薩琉往復文書集古写本」との名が付されていたが、内容の点から「琉球館文書」へ改題することが仲原善忠によって示された。1751～1813年(63年間分)までの文書215件が収められており、鹿児島琉球館における薩摩側との交渉(特に、進貢貿易・借銀・砂糖・海運関連)を知る上での重要な史料である。もともとより膨大な案件を収録していた琉球館の日記の中から必要と思われるものを抜粋したものが現在の「琉球館文書」として成立したと考えられる。第二巻は1787～1795年までの文書45件を収録している。

Description

Very important historical materials since this collection of records contains 215 documents dated from 1751 to 1813 (for 63 years), showing the facts about the negotiation which took place in Ryukyuan government in Satsuma (Kagoshima Prefecture). "The documents of Ryukyuan government" consists of the selected items from the vast amount of articles of daybook logged in Ryukyuan government in Satsuma, established as this current form. The volume two contains 45 documents dated from 1787 to 1795.
