『日本民俗学大系』12巻奄美・沖縄の民俗、比較民俗学的諸問題(平凡社、1959)に所収されている仲原善忠の論文の抜き刷りである。沖縄の固有信仰の起源から王国時代にどのような変遷があったのか、また、その現状(戦後)について述べている。

This text was originally a part of Nakahara's articles compiled in “Nihon Minzokugaku Taikei vol.12” (Outline of Japanese Volkskunde vol.12 Heibonsha Limited, Publishers1959). A comparative study of folk ethnology on Amami and Okinawa. It is considered to be a copy that Nakahara was keeping and using as a reference. In this document, the origins of Okinawa’s unique beliefs of ancient times to the Ryukyu Kingdom era are described. What kind of changes occurred during that time, and what the present situation is (specifically, postwar era).
