解説

1609年の島津侵入以後、琉球では、徳川将軍の代替わり(就職)の際には慶賀使、琉球国王代替わりの際には謝恩使を江戸へ派遣し、これを「江戸立ち」と言っていた。本史料は、1832年に京都で出版された版本で、この年の江戸立ちの使者を紹介したものである。使者の名前や行列の挿絵などを載せ、解説している。「琉球人行列記」は天保3年、13年、嘉永3年に重版されている。このときの使節は、正使豊見城朝春(途上死亡)、副使沢岻安慶、合計97名であった。

Description

Since the invasion by Shimazu Satsuma clan in 1609, Ryukyu sent missions of congratulations for appointment of new Shogun of Tokugawa Shogunate and also missions of gratitude for inauguration of new King of Ryukyu kingdom. Ryukyu called the envoys "Edodachi", meaning "leaving Edo". This document was published in 1832 at Kyoto, introducing envoys that were sent to Edo. The names of the envoys are listed, and also the pictures of the procession are shown.
