琉球と為朝
本史料は菊池幽芳が明治41(1908)年に著したものである。菊池幽芳は、明治3(1870)年、水戸に生まれ、教師となって以降、推理小説家となった人物である。本書は、菊池が明治39(1906)年に沖縄を訪れた際の、体験談を中心に書き上げたものである。明治の時代における沖縄をまなざす知識人の視点が表出されており興味深い内容である。また、口絵の写真などは資料的価値が高い。
“Ryukyu and Tametomo” was published by Kikuchi Yuho in 1908. Kikuchi Yuho was born in 1870 in Mito. After he became a teacher, he began writing detective novels. In this book, it is focused on the experiences that Kikuchi Yuho had when he visited Okinawa in 1906, and he gives impressions about his trip. It is very interesting because the book provides the general prespectives of intellectuals toward Okinawa at the time of Meiji period. The frontispiece photos are also very valued materials.
