解説

『椿説弓張月』をモチーフにした双六。版元は喜鶴堂(佐野屋喜兵衛)。『椿説弓張月』は、前半に弓の名手である源為朝の活躍を描き、後半では保元の乱に破れた為朝が伊豆大島から琉球へ渡り、その国の内乱をおさめて王国を再建するまでを描いている。

Description

The motif of this multi-colored, engraved woodblock print material Sugoroku (Japanese board or picture game) is based on the story of Chinsetsu Yumiharizuki. It was printed by the publisher Kikakudō (also known as Kihei Sanoya). This Sugoroku combines one game story which depicts the very important role of the powerful archer Minamoto-no-Tametomo, with the other story on how he escapes from Izu Ōshima to Ryukyu after being defeated in the Hōgen Rebellion, and then goes on to quell the conflict and rebuild the Kingdom.
