解説

写筆本。本書は、宝暦巳(1761)年、奥州宮城郡の寒風澤(さぶさわ)湊を出帆した船が大風(台風)で流され、安南(ベトナム）へ漂着した時、生き残った船頭たちが見聞したことを記録したものである。「乾」の最初は日本地図が色塗りで掲載され、続いて漂流の顛末、安南の都の様子や簡単な言葉、商いや風習などに関し見聞したことを、時には図入りで記録している。

Description

This handwritten copy records the account of surviving ship crewmen who were cast away by strong wind (typhoon) after departed from Sabusawa Port in Ōshū Miyagi-gun and cast ashore on a coast of Vietnam in 1761. The first part of volume one (indicated as Ken) includes a colored map of Japan with the following details of what the drifted crewmen experienced at sea, descriptions about Vietnam’s metropolitan areas, simple Vietnamese vocabulary, and things that the crewmen observed and heard about trades and customs in Vietnam, also includes partially colored illustrations in places.
