軸物 25×l37cm　版元／平野屋助三郎・大木屋平右衛門　画工／歌川国芳　1806(文化3)年刊。
江戸立ちは徳川将軍や琉球国王が代替りをしたときに行われ、徳川将軍の襲職を慶賀するための使者を慶賀使、琉球国王の襲封を恩謝するための使者を謝恩使といった。江戸立ちのはじまりは、寛永11(1634)年の尚豊王襲封の謝恩使派遣で、最後は嘉永3(1850)年の尚泰王の襲封を謝恩する派遣であり、計18回行われている。1806(文化3)年は尚灝王の襲封を恩謝するための派遣であった。

Description

This is a size of 25cm wide and 137cm long scroll; publishers are Hiraya Sukesaburō and Ōkiya Hēmon; artwork by UTAGAWA Kuniyoshi; printed in 1806. This subject depicts the Edo-dachi: the Ryukyuan mission to Edo whenever there was the change of a new Tokugawa shōgun or the Ryukyu King. The envoy missions appointed to congratulate the shōgun were called Keigashi, on the other hand, the Ryukyu was obliged to send Shaonshi to Edo upon the king was alternated. The mission had dispatched eighteen times since 1634: the first Shaonshi for King Shō Hō’s enthronment, and the last Shaonshi departed in 1850 for King Shō Tai. The Edo-dachi in 1806 was sent to expressing gratitude for King Shō Kō’s succession to the Ryukyu Kingdom.
