明治政府は琉球処分断行にあたって事前に琉球の歴史等を詳しく調べ、中国との交渉にあたろうとしていたが、本史料はその調査報告書と申すべきもの。歴代の冊封の記録を整理してまとめている。当時の警察に御書物という役職があったというのも面白い。※出典：琉球大学附属図書館報『びぶりお』147号(Vol.40、№2）P.5。

Description

The Meiji government surveyed the history of Ryukyu thoroughly for the political process of the Ryukyu Shobun (Ryukyu disposition) before conducting a negociation with Qing. This material is a report based on the research of the Ryukyu successive envoys records. It is worth paying attention to the official title “goshomotsu” of the police organization (University of the Ryukyus Library Newsletter Biblio No. 147, vol. 40, no.2, p. 5).
