久米具志川間切公事帳(二) / Kume Gushikawa Village Kujichō (Vol. 2)

This formal document was issued in 1831 and sent with a Kimochō (proclamation of administrative guidelines) and Reichō (an addendum to Kimochō) from Shuri Ōfu to Gushikawa Village in Kume. Kujichō (Administrative Guidelines) has a wider meaning in determining the local administrative regulations for the officials in accomplishing their duties (sabakuri) in a weary state of Kume. It is divided into two volumes, has 223 Chō (a unit of fukuro-toji folded sheet; fukuro-toji is a widely adopted Japanese format of bookbinding in 14th century), and contains 400 ordinances with headings such as “Kuramotobanmaihō,” “Shinobosehō,” “Funa’ataihō,” “Kōsakuataihō,” “Somayama’ataihō,” “Tabihō,” “Fuda'aratamehō,” “Tōsenhō,” “Ikokuhō,” and “Kanjōhō.”
