解説

1874年1月から東京と琉球藩の間で郵便船を就航させるにあたり、郵便業務を取り扱う役所の設置場所について通達がなされている。郵便仮役所は首里と港のある那覇、今帰仁(運天港近く)が挙げられており、郵便取扱所の設置場所には浦添、北谷、読谷山、恩納、名護、本部、羽地、大宜味、国頭が挙がっている。

Description

This official notice was proclaimed by SANJŌ Sanetomi who was Dajō-daijin, head of the Dajō-kan also known as Great Council of Japan during the Meji era. It informed the public that a vessel post office would be commenced between Tokyo and the Ryukyu Domain, and the establishment of government offices for administrating postal services. It also declared the temporary offices would be established in Shuri, Naha with a port nearby, and Nakijin near port of Unten, and the post offices would be set up in Urasoe, Chatan, Yomitan, Onna, Nago, Motobu, Haneji, Ogimi and Kunigami.
