解説

胡靖（こせい）『琉球図記』（1633年）を恩顕重が編集したものである。木版。胡靖は、尚豊王の冊封正使杜三策（とさんさく）の従客（随員）である。1633年に来琉し、図と説明文からなる『琉球図記』をまとめた。同書は冊封使による公式の報告書とは異なり、自由な立場から当時のありのままの琉球を描写した点に特徴がある。この『琉球図記』より説明文のみを収録したのが、『杜天使冊封琉球真記奇観』である。成立年は不明だが、編集者の恩顕重は胡靖の8代の子孫に当たる(『沖縄大百科事典』参照）。 (2015年3月31日更新)

Description

This is an edited version of Hu Jing's (Jpn., Ko Sei) Ryūkyū Zuki (the original was completed in 1633), edited by En Xianzhong (Jpn., On Kenchō). Woodblock printed. Hu Jing was an attendant of Du Sance (Jpn., To Sansaku), the chief envoy who visited Ryukyu in 1633 for King Shō Hō's investiture. Hu copiled the book entitled Ryūkyū Zuki, which consists of drawings and descriptive passages. Compared with the other official records written by the Chinese envoys, this book is characterized by its unexaggerated depiction of Ryukyu from an unconventional standpoint. This version only includes the descriptive sentences from Ryūkyū Zuki without the drawings. The completion date is unknown, but the editor En Xianzhong is the eighth generation descendant of Hu Jing (according to Okinawa Daihyakka Jiten or Okinawa Encyclopedia).(Updated on January 6, 2016)
