諸抱護諸木植付日記 / An account of hōgo trees planted in Makiya Village
村落風水にかかわる真喜屋村の史料で、同治13（1874）年11月の作成。1857年・1868年の2度にわたり久米村の風水見（フンシミー） 神山里之子親雲上を招いて風水見分（評価・鑑定）をしてもらった結果を受け、特に抱護の管理・育成を決めた経過を伝える。 抱護とは風水の用語であり、良好な気脈を包み保持するための場所。具体的には海岸線に植えられた防潮林・防風林を指す。真喜屋村を守る抱護をいくつかの地区に区分し、それぞれの管理責任者を決めたことが記されている。樹木を育成し抱護としての機能を十分に果たすように努めた村人の気持が現れている。
This is a document regarding the feng shui fortune telling of Makiya Village compiled in November, 1874. It describes how the villagers decided to nurture and maintain particularly the hōgo, in responce to the result of feng shui inspection by Kamiyama Satonushi Pēchin, a fung shui master who was invited to Makiya Village in 1857 and 1868. In feng shui, the term hōgo refers to the areas where good energy is enhanced and reserved. Hōgo specifically refers to the trees planted along the coastal line. According to the document, the areas protected by hōgo trees in Makiya Village were divided into several sections and each of them had a supervisor assigned. This document reveals that the villagers made tremendous efforts to nurture the trees to make them function well as the hōgo.
