Description

This is a document regarding the duties of Wakugawa Pēchin of Jitchaku Village, Nakijin Magiri, from 1852 to 1859. It writes "Wakugawa Pēchin was appointed to a limestone manager (sekkai nushidori yaku) in December, 1852 and served until November, 1854, the year of the Tiger." After that, he held positions as an assistant mountain manager (sō yama-atai tashi yaku), a deputy mountain manager (kari sō yama-atai) and a mountain manager (sōyama-atai).
Based on these work experiences, he submitted this curriculum vitae (tsutomegaki) to petition for his promotion to a deputy lord (jitōdai). Other than his official duties, he attended the officials from Satsuma and yamabugyo officials from the Shuri government when they came to Nakijin Magiri. He also served as an rice polish manager (okome surigara gechihō gamae) of the five villages; Wakugawa, Amesoko, Serikyaku, Kamiunten and Unten, when Chinese ships came to Ryukyu. Many corrections in red ink are found in this document. An official copy of the tsutomegaki was probably submitted after these corrections had been made.
