解説

琉球処分の琉球側からの記録。1873(明治6)年閏6月13日付の文書は、鉢嶺親雲上から与那原親方と大冝見里之子親雲上宛てで、日本政府の副島外務大臣が琉球処分に関する話し合いのために北京へ出かけていたが長崎へ帰着したこと、自分は三邦丸で帰国する予定だったが大阪行きの船だったので、鹿嶋丸で琉球へ帰る予定であることなどを述べている。この内容を受けて、役人からこの内容を通達する文書が付されている。また、1873(明治6)年閏6月24日付の文書は、琉球国王などから大久保利通への年頭の進上物について、物品と渡す手順について首里王府の役人同士が確認する文書が入っている。琉球側からの琉球処分の記録はとても貴重である。

Description

An account of the Disposition of Ryukyu through the position of Ryukyu. The document dated intercalary June 13th, 1873, was addressed to Yonabaru Uēkata and Ōgimi Satonushi Pēchin from Hachimine Pēchin. In this document, there are notes about that Soejima who was Japanese Minister of Foreign Affairs made official travel to Beijing for the negotiation
regarding the Disposition of Ryukyu, and about his return to Nagasaki. Hachimine Pēchin also wrote that he had the intention to return by Mikuni maru, but as the ship would go to Ōsaka, he would take Kashima maru to go back to Ryukyu. Following this news, there is an official notification attached to the document. Besides, there is also a document dated intercalary June 24, 1873; it was for officials of Shuri Ōfu to check a list of the gifts and the procedure to hand new year gifts from the King of Ryukyu to Ōkubo Toshimichi. The account of the Disposition of Ryukyu from the view of Ryukyu side is very precious.
