証文〔御用布調方証文〕 / Declaration (Payment of fabrics to the Government)

Declaration by the government workers responsible for the collection of textile taxes in Taketomi Village (Island) that they will perform theirduties to the best of their abilities. They also expressed their willingness to be penalised should the quality of textiles be inferior or problems arise from their management of the production process. Has the signitures and stamps of the government officials belonging to the same village, namely Yunchu Hazama, Mezashi Hazama, Writer for government forests and Writer for cultivation. This document shows the extent of strictness in the Shuri Government's collection of taxes.
