模合帳 一
表題に「辰四月九日波平村東リ百次之当間にや宅へ相揃銅銭五拾貫文現銭持参書留帳」とあり、光緒6(1880)年の年代を持つ。琉球王国末期から近代初頭における模合(庶民金融、方言でムエー)の実態を伝える数少ない史料の一つである。模合の歴史に関する研究は皆無に近く、本史料の分析はこれからの課題である。文中に波平・長浜・伊良皆・儀間・座喜味・上地などの村名が登場するので、読谷山間切(現在の読谷村)で行われた模合であることがわかる。
This is one of the few historical documents to learn the system of Moai which is a money and banking system prevalent from the late stage of the Ryukyu Kingdom to the early modern period. (each member of the group puts up the cetain amount of money regularly, then only the one of them gets the pool of money. This takes place in turns. In Okinawan dialect, it is called Muee). Research on Moai system has been rarely conducted out, further analysis on this historical material should be carried out. The names of the villages such as Namihira, Nagahama, Iramine, Gima, Zakimi、Uechi are written on this document, therefore, this shows that the practice on this book refers to the Moai carried out in current Yomitan.
