唐栄林氏婚姻家禮 / The Rin Family’s Marriage Customs in Tōei
久米村の紫金大夫の職にあった林文海が、林家の婚姻に関する儀礼をまとめたもので、王国時代の久米村における婚姻の「議婚」「納幣」「親迎」について記している。「議婚」とは仲人を介した婚姻の相談のこと。「納幣」は結納品の受け渡しのこと。「親迎」は結婚当日に嫁を迎えることである。このように結婚に至るまでの種々儀礼を詳細に記している。中国の婚姻同様に「同姓不婚」を明記している。本書は、中国の婚姻を例として引くなど、中国の影響を強く受けた久米村社会の婚姻の様相が窺い知れる。本資料は1860(咸豊10)年9月に撰述されたものを1928(昭和3)年に抄録した写本である。
This document is about the ritual ceremonies in Kumei village (called Tōei as in the title) written by Rin Bun Kai. Rin was a Shikintaifu (the highest position of an official) in the Ryukyu Kingdom period. It describes the three traditional etiquettes of premarriage and marriage in Kume village that had stemmed from China: the gikon (prearrangement between two families through a broker), the nōhei (engagement includes an exchange of engagement gifts) and the shingei (marriage ceremonies: begins with welcoming the bride on the wedding day). Within Chinese culture, being stated in this document that couples who had the same surname were forbidden to marry. This document also quotes Chinese marriages as examples to give us an idea of how marriages conducted in Kume village were strongly influenced by China. This document (1928) was a duplicate of the original written in September 1860.
