文化3(1806)年の江戸立に関し、日本で編纂された記録である。写本。編者、成立年ともに不明。阪巻・宝玲文庫にのみ架蔵の確認される史料である。同年の江戸立は琉球国王尚灝(しょうこう)の即位を将軍に謝恩する目的で行われた。正使読谷山朝英(ゆんたんざちょうえい)以下総勢97人が江戸へ派遣されている。本史料は琉球使節の江戸到着後、江戸城で行われた進見の儀(御礼の儀ともいう)の次第を記したものである。琉球使節が殿上の間に着座するところから、大広間での出御、献上物の進呈、退座の模様などが記述されている。出仕者の役職や着座の位置についても詳細に記されている。

Description

This is a copy of a record of the Ryukyuan mission of 1806, which was edited in Japan. The editor and the completion date are unknown. It is a rare book which can be found only in the Sakamaki/Hawley Collection. The 1806 mission was to give shaon, or special gratitude, with regards to the enthronement of a Ryukyu king (King Shō Kō at this time). It was headed by the mission supervisor Yuntanza Chōei and followed by 97 attendants in total. The book records the opening and celebration ceremony called shinken no gi held in Edo Castle after the arrival of the Ryukyuan envoys. It describes the arrival of the envoys arrive at the castle; and their awaiting the shogun in the tenjō no ma, the space located right in front of the shogun's seat in the grand hall covered with tatami mats called ōhiroma; the arrival of the shogun and his entry into the room; their tribute offerings; their subsequent departure, etc. The book also gives detail on the duties of the both Ryukyuan and Japanese officials attending this event and the specific positions in which they were allowed to be seated.
