解説

阪宅甫（さかたくほ）著、天保3（1832）年刊。折本。日本で刊行された琉球紹介の書物である。琉球使節の江戸立は見物する人々にも琉球への関心を喚起し、江戸や京都の出版業者は先を争って琉球に関する刊行物を発行した。本資料もその一種である。内容は地理の紹介に始まり、歴史、官職などが記述されている。使節の携行した道具や楽器についても図版を掲載している。影印・翻刻・解説が『江戸期琉球物資料集覧』に所収されている。沖縄県立図書館貴重資料デジタル書庫に解説がある。また、琉球大学附属図書館琉球・沖縄関係貴重資料デジタルアーカイブの仲原善忠文庫には、和綴じ形態の同資料の解題と英文解題がある。

Description

This book was written by Saka Takuho and published in Japan in 1832. It is an orihon, a book folded in zigzag style, and is a brief introduction to Ryukyu. It is one of those Ryukyu-related books published at the time of the Ryukyuan procession which attracted people who viewed it and aroused their interest in Ryukyu. It first describes the geography of Ryukyu, then its history, official ranks, etc. It also includes some drawings of belongings and instruments that the envoys carried.
