薩州分国演説記 / An oral report on census of the domains in Kyushu given to the Satsuma

This book is a copy of a copy of a document addressed from Jōshū Sōsuke to a Mr. Shinohara. It was first copied by an official in Jōhokukaku (the northern section of the castle), and this copy, owned by Ochiai Yajirobē of Higo Domain (present Kumamoto Pref.) at that time, was borrowed and copied again by Ariyoshi Tokinobu, who was the sixth head of a branch family (bekke) of the Ariyoshi family in Kumamoto. The contents are: a list of villages which the Satsuma governed, milestones, products, Shinto shrines and other religious organizations, the origin of the Ariyoshi family, debts, products of Ryukyu, etc.
