琉球国外交録 / Record of diplomatic relations of Ryukyu

The author and publisher are unknown. This was presumably written between 1908 and 1923. It is a handwritten (not printed) book, and some notes are added in red ink. It records the detailed history of the times from the landing of U.S. naval officer Commodore Matthew Perry's forces in Ryukyu in January, 1854 through "the Treaty of Amity between the Ryukyu Kingdom and the United States" concluded in July of the same year. At the end of the book, the text of the agreement "the Treaty of Amity between the Ryukyu Kingdom and the Second French Empire" is appended. This book was presumably based on "Naimushō Hon" (A book of Home Ministry of Japan) and Zō Shōichii Shimazu Nariakira Kōki written by Terashi Munenori in 1908. According to "Hawai Daigaku no Ryūkyū Kenkyū Shiryō" written by Masako Sakihara (Kikan Okinawa vol.1, 1979), the original text owned by Home Ministry of Japan (Naimushō) was destroyed by the Great Kanto Earthquake of 1923.
