解説

仏艦船アルクメーヌ号が来航した道光24（1844）年に琉球王府へ送られた書状及び返書をまとめたもの。1通目は那覇大人鄭を通して琉球王へ、2通目は薩摩（或いは幕府）へ出したもので、差し出し人はフォルカードである。3通目は清国宣教師のオーギュスタン・コウ（高隆稟）が出した書状、4通目はオーギュスタン・コウ宛ての座喜味親方盛善（向永保）の返書となっている。先行研究として西里喜行(2000）・岡部敏和（2004）など。（2015年5月18日更新）

Description

This contains four documents exchanged between France and Ryukyu (or Satsuma), with regards to the request from France to open a port for free trade, in 1844 when the French battleship Alcmene arrived in Ryukyu. The first three are the ones addressed from France to Ryukyu (or Satsuma), and the last one is a letter of reply, written by Zakimi Uēkata Seishin (Chinese name: Shō Eiho) and addressed to a Chinese missionary named Augustan Kō (also known as Gao Longbin/J., Kō Ryūrin), who was probably an interpreter between France and Ryukyu.
