南島紀事外編 坤 / Supplement to the Accounts of Southern Islands, vol. 2
西村捨三（にしむら・すてぞう：1843－1908）著。明治19（1886）年刊行。榕陰書屋蔵版。『南島紀事』の続編にあたる。本書の内容は、蔡温の『独物語』ほかを参照に日本の一県となった経緯をまとめ、軍事的に沖縄がいかに重要な位置にあるかを強調したものとなっている。著者は、元彦根藩士で後に官僚となった人物。明治16（1883）年第4代沖縄県令に就任し、明治19（1886）年離任・帰京した。榕陰書屋については未詳。（2017年4月24日更新）
Written by Nishimura Sutezō (1843-1908). Published in 1886. This edition was owned by Yōin Sho'oku. It is a sequel to Nantō kiji. The book examines how Okinawa became one of the Japanese prefectures, and draws on references to Sai On’s Hitori Monogatari and other works. It emphasizes how important Okinawa is from a military standpoint. The author was an ex-retainer of Hikone domain and later became a government official. He was appointed as the 4th Magistrate of Okinawa in 1883, and he left his position and returned to Tokyo in 1886. Details about Yōin Sho'oku are unknown. (Updated on November 4, 2022)
