外蕃容貌図画 坤 / Drawings of the features of foreigners vol. 2

This is a book of drawings, edited by Tagawa Harumichi and illustrated by Kurata Tōgaku. This second volume (Kon) depicts the appearance and dress of people from Europe, and North and South America with colored drawings. It reveals a Japanese view of foreign people of that period, but evidence from parts of the book suggests that Kurata did not actually see those foeigners, so many of the drawings presumably came from his imagination. The details of Kurata are unknown.
