琉球詩録 / Ryukyuan poetry record

This is a copy of Ryūkyū Shiroku, copied by hand by Ashitomi Chōshō. The book, consisting of two parts, contains Chinese poems composed by two Ryukyuans named Lin Shigong (J., Rin Seikō) and his cousin Lin Shizhong (J., Rin Seichū), who were students at Guozijian (the National School in China). The preface was written in 1873. On the cover page is signature "Shutokudō/Ryōyūkō," which probably indicates the owner of the book. The title on the cover page is written as Ryūkyūshi"ka," but the "ka" was crossed with a line and changed to "roku" in a pencil. At the end, there is a handwritten note saying that the book was handwritten by the friend Ashitomi Chōshō, and was given to Mr. Kubo by Kikō of Ryukyu.
