Okinawan Conversation is the first textbook produced for the education of standard Japanese language in Okinawa, right after the establishment of prefectures in place of feudal domains, to which Okinawwa was added in 1879. It was edited by the educational department of Okinawa prefecture, and issued in 1880. It comprises two volumes. This book is revised edition, republished in 1882. It was used at normal schools and primary schools. It contains daily words and conversation, and there are both standard Japanese and Shuri dialect side-by-side.(Updated on November 4, 2022)
