『琉球一件』は全10冊。廃藩置県に伴う琉球帰属問題について日本と清国でやりとりされた外交文書などを集めたものである。本書はその2冊目。本書の表紙には「明治十二年七月十六日 外務卿移北京駐箚公使訓條」とある。廃藩置県の直後、琉球の帰属問題が両国間の懸案となった。本書は、琉球を専有すべき主権が日本にあることを記した覚書で、寺島宗則外務卿が清国駐剳全権公使の宍戸璣(ししどたまき)へ提示した資料である。内容は、慶長14(1609)年の島津侵入の後、薩摩藩が琉球と交わした掟十五条と琉球国王尚寧と交わした誓文などである。漢文で書かれている。(2017年4月7日更新）
Ryukyu Ikken is a set of ten printed documents. It is a collection of the diplomatic correspondence between Japan and Qing(China) concerning the Japanese annexation of Ryukyu as the Prefecture of Okinawa. This is the 2nd volume. On the book cover, there is "July 16th, 1879, a Chief of Foreign Ministry orders to the minister posted in Beijing". Right after the establishment of prefectures in place of feudal domains, the Japanese annexation of Ryukyu became a political issue between Japan and Qing. This document is a memorandum in which Japan asserted that they had dominion over Ryukyu, and also it is a material that Terashima Munenori, a Cheif of Foreign Ministry showed Shishido Tamaki, the minister plenipotentiary posted in Qing. It contains 15 rules which Satsuma domain ordered to Ryukyu and a written oath forced to obey to King Shō Nei of the Ryukyu kingdom after the invasion by Shimazu in 1609. It is written in Kanbun (Chinese classics).(Updated on November 4, 2022)
