Explanation of the Six Orders
Liuyu yanyi (Jpn., Rikuyu engi) was written by Fan Hong (Jpn., Han Kō) and it was completed as a textbook used in China in the end of Min or in the beginning of Qing period. It was a manual for teaching "Liuyu(Jpn., Rikuyu)"mandated by an Emperor to ordinary people. Tei Junsoku from Ryukyu reprinted it and it was dedicated to the Shōgun Tokugawa Yoshimune through Satsuma domain. Liuyu yanyi was used as the textbook of Terakoya(Private elementary school of the Edo period) for Japanese ordinary people in all over the Japan during about 200 years from the last part of Edo period. There are varied books published as Liuyu yanyi, Higashionna Kanjun has confirmed 86 variations. There are missing pages with the book cover and the latter pages, but it is considered as Liuyu yanyi printed in Ryukyu according to its contents.
