解説

原本。安政4（1857）年製。在番奉行（仮屋）に仕える大和橫目の日記。文面から、在番奉行をとりなす為に大和橫目ら琉球の下級役人が苦労をした様子が窺える。(2015年3月31日更新)

Description

The original. Completed in 1857. This is a record kept by a "Yamato Yokome" (this refers to a prosecutor-like position, not a personal name), who worked for the zaiban (the office heads) at the kariya (local city/government office). The text shows how lower-class Ryukyuan officials such as the "Yamato Yokome" suffered working under the zaiban. (Updated on August 3, 2015)
