琉球草木写生 上 / The illustrated book of Ryukyu's plants, vol.

The author and completion date are unknown. There is no preface, colophon, or annotation. It consists of two volumes and lists 80 species of plants grown in the Ryukyu Islands with their names and colored drawings. National Diet Library owns a book with the same title, but its contents are different from those of this book. The connection to this book is unknown. Several ownership stamps can be found in this book. The one stamped on the first page of the drawing section (Image no. 5), "kono nushi Imoshige/○ (maru) yaki" (the owner is Imoshige), is by Okumura Shigejirō (1873-1920), who was an herbal medicine scholar and also a roasted sweet potato vendor. He was also a collector of classical books. His pen name is Zansekian, and common name is Imoshige.(Updated on August 3, 2015)
