大津一件琉球人国役金並水教寺大鼓共入用二付右三匁取集メ高覚帳 / An account book of collected expenses for Ryukyuan envoys' visit and a drum of Suikyōji Temple, made in Ōtsu

This is a document written in Ōtsu (present-day Ōtsu, Shiga Prefecture) in 1843. It is an account book created when the expenses for Ryukyuan envoys' visit as well as for a drum at Suikyōji Temple were collected from the commoners in Ōtsu. This document was addressed to shōya (the village headman), toshiyori (the local administrative chief), and rōjū (the local senior councilor), which suggests that it was submitted to Amagasaki Domain. It lists the number or amount of the collected expenses (rice and cash) and the names of the payers.(Updated on October 30, 2015)
