宇田川榕庵蘭写生図 / A sketch of orchid by Udagawa Yōan
掛け軸一幅。外題「宇田川榕庵蘭写生図」。外題の下に「宝玲文庫」「藤浪氏蔵」の旧蔵印が記されている。琉球からもたらされた蘭と、それに集まる蝶の様子を写生し、オランダ古語による解説を付してある。「Youan」の署名も確認できる。解説では、蘭（ニュウメンラン）は西表原産であり、貴重で高価なものであると記されている。作者の宇田川榕庵（うだがわ・ようあん：1798-1846）は幕末の蘭学者。ドイツ出身の医師であり、博物学者として著名なシーボルト（1796-1866）とも交流があった。同資料の「藤浪氏蔵」は、慶應義塾大学医学部教授であった藤浪剛一が所蔵していたことを示す。本紙に「榕菴」「榕印」（どちらも宇田川榕庵）の落款がある。(2017年4月5日更新）
A hanging scroll. The title is "Udagawa Yōan Ran Shaseizu". There are stamps of "Hawley Bunko"and "Fujinami shi zō". In this hanging scroll, Udagawa depicts an orchid in Ryukyu with butterflies gathering around it. He also added a description in classical Dutch. The signature of "Youan"can be also identified. He explains that the Orchid (Nuumen ran) was from Iriomote and was very precious and expensive. Udagawa Youan (1798-1846) was a Dutch scholor in the last days of the Tokugawa shogunate. He also befriended the famous Dutch scientist Philipp Franz von Siebold (1796-1866) . The stamp of "Fujinami shi zō"is the ownership stamp of Fujinami Gōichi who was a professor of Keiō University School of Medicine. There is also a signature 「榕菴」and seal「榕印」（, both of which refer to 宇田川榕庵: Udagawa Yōan）.(Updated on November 4, 2022)
