解説

掛け軸一幅。外題「琉球崇元寺下馬碑摺本（表）」。掛け軸の本紙には、崇元寺下馬碑からとった拓本を貼りつけてある。内容は「但 官員人等至此下馬」とあり、下馬碑の裏にある文言ということがわかる。ちなみに、同碑の表には「あんし（按司）もけす（下司）もくま（此）にてむま（馬）からおれるへし」と琉球文で記されている。同碑は嘉靖6（1527）年尚清一年、崇元寺前に建立された。同碑は1955年県文化財に指定されている。（2017年4月6日更新）

Description

A hanging scroll. The title is "Ryukyu Sōgenji Gebahi Surihon (Omote )". A rubbed copy taken from the Monument at Ryukyu Sōgenji site is attached to the backing of the hanging scroll. The inscription is written in Kanbun (classical Chinese) and says "Every lord and every minor official should dismount from his horse here", which shows us that this sentence is on the back of the monument. On the front of this monument, there is a same sentence in Ryukyuan language too. This monument was built in front of Sōgenji in 1527 and was designated a Cultural Asset of Okinawa Prefecture in 1955. (Updated on November 4, 2022)
